COVID-19 recommendations From the American Podiatric Medical Association
Original Message from www.apma.org/covid19
APMA recognizes that the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19
present significant challenges for podiatrists, their families, and
staff. Our mutual members may have very real concerns about the
financial impact of curtailing services or closing their practices
altogether for an undetermined period of time.
APMA has created a wealth of tools to help support members during these
trying times, from information about how to perform telehealth services
to resources for applying for small business assistance. We ask that you
encourage your members to access these tools by widely sharing our
COVID-19 resource page, www.apma.org/covid19 [1].
_IN ADDITION, APMA WILL ANNOUNCE TOMORROW A NEW, MULTIMILLION-DOLLAR
RELIEF PLAN FOR ITS MEMBERS, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: _
* APMA will waive national dues for the month of June, the first month
of our fiscal year 2020-21, representing approximately $600,000 in lost
revenue.
* The first dues installment payment date for fiscal year 2020-21 will
be extended from June 1 to August 1.
* We will also extend the final payment date for 2019-20 dues payments
to July 1, meaning no member will be suspended for non-payment of dues
during the month of June.
* APMA will establish a fund of $500,000 available to assist members in
demonstrated financial distress (more details and application
information to come).
* APMA is working with financial institutions to provide members with
short-term cashflow solutions (more details to come).
* We are working closely with our partners in industry, as well as our
component and affiliate organizations, to determine where needs exist
and how we can best support members.
We encourage states to waive dues and postpone payment dates as they are
able to make the greatest impact for our members in these trying times.
Information about how to apply for grants from our relief fund will be
forthcoming.
In the coming days, APMA will continue to assess member needs and update
you. In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact us. You may
access a full staff listing at www.apma.org/staff [2]. We stand ready to
assist and support our members during these difficult times.
Sincerely,
James R. Christina, DPM
